Le Marteau sans maître
Maurice Béjart's work is one of fascinating magnitude and diversity. The “Marteau sans maître” illustrates Béjart's passion for the music of his century and presents clear choreographic writing that has been stripped bare and whose abstraction has its roots in the purest academic vocabulary. The work of the choreographer on Boulez' partition is based exclusively on the relationship between the musical partition and movement. It is one of Maurice Béjart's major works, and was inspired by the poems of René Char. Here, his passion for poetic metaphysics, his attraction for the Far East and his personal symbolism shine through.

Béjart, Maurice
Maurice Béjart created the Ballet du XXe Siècle in Brussels in 1960, an international company that he directed and with which he toured around the world with, as his repertoire of creations grew: “Boléro” (1961), “Messe pour le temps présent” (1967) and “L'Oiseau de feu” (1970). In 1987, the Ballet du XXe Siècle became the Béjart Ballet Lausanne. The great choreographer established himself in the Olympic capital. In 1992, he decided to limit the size of his company to around thirty dancers to "rediscover the essence of the performer” and, the same year, he founded the Rudra Béjart School-Workshop. Among the myriad of ballets created for this company, we can mention “Le Mandarin merveilleux”, “King Lear – Prospero”, “À propos de Shéhérazade”, “Le Presbytère...”, “MutationX”, “La Route de la soie”, “Le Manteau”, “Enfant-Roi” and “La Lumière des eaux et Lumière”. Director of theatre (“La Reine verte”, “Casta Diva”, “Cinq Nô modernes” and “A-6-Roc”) and opera (“Salomé”, “La Traviata” and “Don Giovanni”), filmmaker (“Bhakti”, “Paradoxe sur le comédien...”), Maurice Béjart also published several books (novels, memoirs, diaries, theatre plays). In 2007, just when he turned eighty, the choreographer created “La Vie du danseur racontée par Zig et Puce”. Maurice Béjart went on to create “Le Tour du monde en 80 minutes”, his last work, and passed away in Lausanne on 22 November 2007.

Plasson, Fabien
Born in 1977, Fabien Plasson is a video director specialized in the field of performing arts (dance , music, etc).
During his studies at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Lyon (joined in 1995) Fabien discovered video art. He was trained by various video artists (Joel Bartoloméo Pascal Nottoli , Eric Duyckaerts , etc).
He first experimented with the creation of installations and cinematic objects.
From 2001 to 2011, he was in charge of Ginger & Fred video Bar’s programming at La Maison de la Danse in Lyon. He discovered the choreographic field and the importance of this medium in the dissemination, mediation and pedagogical approach to dance alongside Charles Picq, who was a brilliant video director and the director of the video department at that time.
Today, Fabien Plasson is the video director at La Maison de la Danse and in charge of the video section of Numeridanse.tv, an online international video library, and continues his creative activities, making videos of concerts, performances and also creating video sets for live performances.

Béjart Ballet Lausanne
Depuis sa création en 1987, le Béjart Ballet Lausanne est une référence dans le monde chorégraphique. Désigné comme successeur par Maurice Béjart, Gil Roman, dirige la compagnie et préserve son excellence artistique depuis la disparition du maître en 2007.
Maurice Béjart a toujours eu la volonté d’ouvrir le monde de la danse à un large public. Animés de ce même esprit, Gil Roman et ses danseurs se produisent dans le monde entier. Le Béjart Ballet Lausanne est l’une des rares compagnies capables de remplir de vastes espaces tels que le NHK Hall de Tokyo, le Kremlin State Palace de Moscou, L’Odéon d’Hérode Atticus à Athènes, le Palais des congrès de Paris, Forest National à Bruxelles ou la patinoire de Malley-Lausanne.
Depuis 2007, par sa recherche et son travail de création, Gil Roman entretient et développe le répertoire du Béjart Ballet Lausanne. Au cœur de ce dernier se trouve l’oeuvre de Maurice Béjart, avec des chorégraphies emblématiques, comme Le Sacre du Printemps, Boléro, La IXe Symphonie de Beethoven ou Le Presbytère n’a rien perdu de son charme, ni le jardin de son éclat, et d’autres que Gil Roman fait découvrir ou redécouvrir au public, telles que Piaf ou La Flûte enchantée. Chorégraphe depuis 20 ans, le directeur artistique nourrit le répertoire de ses créations. Des chorégraphes invités comme Alonzo King, Tony Fabre, Christophe Garcia, Giorgio Madia ou Julio Arozarena, ont également contribué au développement créatif du Béjart Ballet Lausanne.
La Compagnie, fidèle à sa vocation, fait vivre l’œuvre de Maurice Béjart tout en demeurant un espace de création.
