tReta

In a performance as radical as it is blunt, a group of performers, heads  hidden in their t-shirts, bare-chested and on skateboards, make contact  with the audience who have been plunged into darkness. They bringring  to life the urgency and hostility of urban life in Brazil, and bearing  witness to the violence they are exposed to on a daily basis. Ranging  between collisions, racing and aggression, their gestures reflect the  complexity of metropolises and the chaos of the human relationships that  are formed there. Here taken as disposable produce, or places of  expression for social inequalities, ethnic discriminations and conflicts  of value, their bodies become instruments of a critique of  dysfunctional societies. Meaning “crap”, “bullshit or “blah blah blah”, tReta  thus brings into action forms of hip-hop, from a battle to a  breakdance, in a face-on confrontation with the Palácio do Planalto, the  symbol of political power, while denouncing the corruption of the state  and the incompetence of those who run it.
