Hautes pointures [Les étoiles]

Small tightrope forms for public spaces

This is the more than probable encounter of a young itinerant girl with a woman of the world…

Both passionate about adventure, together they attempt to climb the roof of the world …

*L’Étoile (The Star) is the name of the self-supported sculpture-structure, but also the generic name of this ensemble of short pieces.

The Star, an architecture floating in space, beyond the limits of weightlessness, a sculpture-structure, made of steel tubes and taut cables. In the beginning, there was the more than probable encounter between a scenographer - designer of technologico-poetic objects - and a tightrope walker dreaming of wires tightened without anchorage. The flight of their fancies, a dream called Star.

On the Star, a small universe representing a tightrope, Les Colporteurs imagine a repertoire of small forms for the company’s artists, but also for other accomplice “high wire” artists, invited to come and tame the structure…

Les Colporteurs

In 1996, Agathe and Antoine, during the exploitation of Amore Captus, founded the company Les Colporteurs. With their accomplices at that time, they organised the construction of the big top they had always dreamt of and created their first show, Filao, inspired by Italo Calvino’s novel Il Barone Ramante (The Baron in the Trees). This show, which combines circus, theatre, dance and music, was performed 220 times between 1997 and 2000 in France and abroad. In 1999, the team of Les Colporteurs joined up with that of Les Nouveaux Nez to imagine, in the Ardèche region of France, what was to become La Cascade, Pôle National des Arts du Cirque (National Centre of Circus Arts), which opened its doors in Bourg-Saint-Andéol in April 2008.

In May 2000, Antoine was the victim of a serious accident that prevented him from continuing to tightrope dance. However, he resumed his work as an actor and a musician and began to stage performances.
