WHAT IS NUMERIDANSE.TV ?

An international video library of dance online
"numeridanse.tv" aims to create the first digital audio-visual database for the dance world. It indexes as extracts, or as complete works, choreographic adaptations/dramas, documentaries and educational resources. each of these resources is accompanied by texts that provide information to aid understanding through the presentation of the work/video document or biography and additional information.
These data are available to the general public, dance and/or video professionals internationally, and to the world of education through specific tools for presentation and consultation which respect the artistic quality of the works as well as broadcast rights and access to content.

The general public
With "numeridanse.tv", access to video archives of cultural structures, dance companies, producers and artists is no longer governed by geographical constraints. anyone with an internet connection can now access heritage choreographic resources, some of which have hardly been seen until now. In this way, visitors have an opportunity to discover or to rediscover many works and documents, and to become familiar with this world through the textual content that accompanies each video resource.

Professionals
The web is becoming a platform of services in which content is easily accessible and widely consumed by its users. Video has become an indispensable tool for any dance professional. As a promotional tool or for broadcast and transmission, over the years video has become a solid method of communication. For promotion or simply to showcase their work, "numeridanse.tv" will offer professionals tools suited to their needs. as such, they can submit their video collection in a branded area, while benefiting from the shared platform, search tools and consistency of descriptions with the rest of the collections shown on numeridanse.tv. They can also export the video player to their own website, make access to certain resources private, send a link by email and control access and administration of their resources online.

Education professionals
"numeridanse.tv" is supported by the Maison de la Danse in associa- tion with the Centre national de la danse, two institutions involved in the broadcast process, and in particular aimed at the world of education. The idea of accompanying teachers and supervisors
in a process of creating awareness of the world of dance through specially developed tools based on specific needs, has led to the creation of the «Themas» area. These thematic structures are exportable and so can be referenced and accessed as a resource in digital work environments.

STRUCTURE OF THE SITE

Focus
This is the homepage of the numeridanse.tv website. an event is highlighted, supported by the publication of original and historic resources (i.e. a collection of historical archives in connection with the event, an interview with the artist, speaking with colleagues, scholars, journalists, anthropologists, behind the scenes, pictures of rehearsal, live or delayed recording of the event, backstage return, reactions, criticisms and comments). Each Channel admin can offer their own «Focus».

Catalog
The user accesses all of the resources listed on numeridanse.tv, the 12 newest resources appearing on the front page as thumbnails with the title of the work and its author(s). The user can also choose to sort the catalogue by choreographer or work title and search for a work of choreography or dance film that they would like to see brought to life.
Each resource is accompanied by additional articles providing useful information for understanding the audiovisual resources proposed by numeridanse.tv. This allows them to put the work in context or to obtain more detailed information about the main artists involved.

Channels
As part of a strategy of private collections, the channels allow access to the "numeridanse.tv" resources, organised and administered by the various contributing partners invested in the project with the same ambition of pooling resources and archives in the field of dance. Each project partner has a dedicated channel and the tools that allow them to customise the presentation and broadcast of their works.

Themas
The «Themas» section offers a way to browse the "numeridanse.tv" resources, organised into pathways or scenarios. Each «Themas» combines around 10 to 15 resources that are enriched by a video interview of an artist or of a company. The first topic that we’ll work on is aimed at primary school pupils and is called «Dancing at the crossroads of the arts».

Pro access
This area is for the administration and management of a channel by its producer. it allows the admin to add data, index resources, write accompa- nying text, publish and un-publish resources, etc.
